BOTANICAL NAME: Tabebuia rosea (Bertol.)A. DC.

FEATURES:

  • Wood moderately heavy, with very good dimensional stability and low mechanical properties.

CURRENT USES:

  • Fine furniture, decorative veneers, joinery, interior construction, tool handles, carpentry work (doors, store displays, closets, kitchen, divisions, baseboards, frames, railings, pergolas, flooring, roofing and windows structures) moldings. It is considered thin, closer to the cold ground oak, and fourth in quality after mahogany, cedar and Tolua.

RECOMMENDED USES:

  • Sporting, agricultural implements, decorative and industrial flooring, paddles, heads for firearms, carts, panels, heavy construction, turned articles, posts, plywood and decorative utility (rotary and sliced veneer), musical instruments, construction barge, particle board, bows for arrows. Can be used on outbuildings, provided no limiting natural durability and resistance.

FEATURES:

  • Wood moderately heavy, with good dimensional stability and mechanical properties of some medium to medium.

CURRENT USES:

  • Fine furniture, flooring, joinery, interior cladding, lintels, doors, paneling, carving, turned items, tanks, barrels, laboratory facilities, masts and spars, struts in coal mines, ties, musical instruments (pianos, organs, harmonium keys and violins), pipes to snuff, fiber and particle boards. Dimensional stability, has become the only acceptable wood covered with good-sized boats and planes.

RECOMMENDED USES:

  • stakes, decorative plates, shipbuilding (covers, linings, armor, fins, and other elements in contact with water), construction, outdoor, floors, marine piling, veneer and plywood, carpentry, cabinetmaking, musical instruments, toys.

RECOMMENDED USES:

  • Packaging fine luxury cabinetry, decorative panels, wood panels and cement and particles, crafts, turned items, agricultural implements, boat covers and liners, precision instruments.

FEATURES:

  • Wood moderately heavy, low dimensional stability and mechanical properties of medium.

CURRENT USES:

  • Carpentry (frames, doors, closets, kitchens, doors), cabinetry, libraries, structures for ceilings, interior, standard buildings, wagon, boat, floors (parquet), cabinets.

RECOMMENDED USES:

  • Special for beams and masts, sheets, molded products, cross arms, poles, pulp and musical instruments. The script has been recommended in the Netherlands as a substitute for oak (Quercus sp.) And Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King) and in the U.S., the Cherry (Prunus serotina Ehrh.) And the Black walnut (Juglans nigra L.)

  • General Carpentry, luxury furniture, sporting goods and agricultural products, crates, countertops, kitchen, moldings, boats, boat parts, weaving machines, machinery parts, wheels of carts, construction of pianos, tool handles, poles, beams, decorative plates, crafts, turned parts, heavy traffic (floors, decks, stairs, divisions). When compared with the Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King).

RECOMMENDED USES:

  • Civil and Hydraulic Constructions, bodies, beams, ties, steam-bent parts.
